Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) includes robust features to manage users, groups, permissions, and impersonation, all crucial for ensuring a secure and well-organized system. Let’s break down these concepts to better understand their roles within AEM.

Users and Groups in AEM

In AEM, a user is anyone who interacts with the system, such as a content author or an administrator. Rather than managing permissions individually for every user, AEM groups users based on their responsibilities. These groups allow for easier management and role assignment.

For instance, typical groups might include:

  • Authors: Users responsible for creating and editing content.
  • Editors: Users in charge of reviewing and approving content.
  • Administrators: Users with full access and control over the system.

By organizing users into groups, you can assign and manage permissions more efficiently, as entire groups can be given specific roles and access levels rather than handling each user separately.

What are ACLs (Access Control Lists)?
